Panasonic launches Smart Home system in the UK

Summary

Network of cameras, sensors and smart plugs to monitor your home via your smart device and provide peace of mind

Panasonic has today launched a complete home networking system aimed at giving consumers the ability to remotely check on their home and property, as well as simplify their daily lives. From children to pets, cars to motorbikes, now you can keep an eye on all the important things in your life through your smart device.

The innovative system provides a simple way for anyone to link the smart devices (cameras, sensors and plugs) and control them from one app on a tablet or smartphone. Panasonic’s Smart Home system runs on DECT ULE technology, allowing the devices to be connected to the home hub through one push pairing.

Once linked to the home hub the smart devices can be switched on and off remotely, and the cameras allow for two-way communication. That means that the cameras can be used to instruct a delivery person where to leave a package, or as a baby monitor through which you can soothe your child with the sound of your voice or one of the inbuilt lullabies.

The system also includes motion sensors which can be used to automate lighting through the ‘rule-builder’ in the app. Rules can be created under ‘home’ and ‘away’ profiles to suit your needs. Whether you want lights to come on whilst you are on holiday to discourage burglaries, or you want to receive an alert when your front door opens to make sure your kids got home safe from school the Smart Home system can be arranged in a network that suits you and your family.

Panasonic’s DECT ULE technology makes this one of the safest networks on the market. The devices won’t appear when searching for WiFi networks and the signal works reliably over distances of up to 300m. This means the smart devices can be used to alert you to anyone entering outbuildings, sheds and garages. The value of the contents of the average UK shed is nearly £600, an investment worth protecting.

The system is available to purchase from the 17th July 2015 on Currys website, as well as directly from Panasonic’s eShop now: www.panasonic.co.uk/smarthome/shop

Panasonic offers the Smart Home network in three packages:

Home Safety Starter Kit: Home Hub, window sensor and motion detector, £129.99

Home Safety Starter Plus Kit: Home Hub, siren, window sensor and motion detector, £159.99

Home Monitoring and Control Kit: Home Hub, indoor camera, window sensor x2 and smart plug, £229.99

“Panasonic has designed the Smart Home system with the needs of the regular person or family firmly in mind,” says Justin Burnell, Sales and Marketing Manager for Panasonic Smart Home at Panasonic. “So far the industry has focused on producing smart devices with one, specific application. But what people really want is a system that helps simplify their life, not complicate it further.

How many times have you wondered if you closed the bedroom window, or if your teenager made it home safely from school? With the Panasonic Smart Home system you can check quickly and easily from your smartphone or tablet. Fewer worries can only be a good thing and with Panasonic Smart Home system you can achieve peace of mind.”
