  • The LUMIX G9 and full Panasonic kit accompanied Team GB photographer, Andy Ryan, to the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires
  • The G9 was the sole camera used for Team GB at the Games to document the young athletes’ success

12th November 2018 - Following the success of Team GB at the Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games, Panasonic reveals winning moments captured by Team GB photographer, Andy Ryan, with the LUMIX G9 mirrorless camera.

Team GB ended Buenos Aires 2018 with 15 medals, three gold, six silver and six bronze. Boxing was the standout sport, with all three gold medals awarded to young boxers Karol Itauma, Caroline Dubois, and Ivan Hope Price, as well as a bronze medal for Hassan Azim ensuring medals in all four weight divisions.

Showcasing its dedication to the Olympic Games, Panasonic’s support ensured Andy Ryan’s presence at the Games as well as access to the best equipment available in order to document young athletes at the global sporting event.

Team GB Director of Communications, Scott Field, said: “The Olympic Games is the most visually captivating sporting event in the world. Working with Panasonic to bring these Games to life for fans in the UK through LUMIX has once again shown their commitment and desire to promote Team GB and now, the Youth Olympic movement and our young talented stars who competed at Buenos Aires 2018.”

The fast-paced nature of sports photography meant Panasonic’s flagship LUMIX G9 camera was the perfect partner, enabling Andy Ryan to capture seamless shots of the Team GB’s success.

The LUMIX G9 boasts incredibly high image quality along with super-fast performance and intuitive operability – all in a compact body. It delivers up to 60 fps and an incredible 0.04 second AF speed with high tracking performance, ensuring the G9 never loses the subject.

Barnaby Sykes, Category Manager Imaging at Panasonic said: “Panasonic has supported the Olympic Games for over a quarter of a century and we were delighted to extend our support to the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires. Our LUMIX G9 camera is the perfect tool for the sports photographer and was instrumental for Andy Ryan to document Team GB athletes in their sporting events, increasing awareness and support of this important occasion.“

Held every four years, the Youth Olympic Games brings together talented young athletes aged 15 to 18 from over 200 countries around the world.
