The cinematography credentials of the full-frame mirrorless Panasonic LUMIX S1H are to be showcased in front of many of the world’s greatest filmmakers in the prestigious EnergaCAMERIMAGE festival from 9-16 November at Torun in Poland.

The 27th annual EnergaCAMERIMAGE International Film Festival of the Art of Cinematography is globally recognised as the most prestigious festival of its kind, showcasing ground-breaking movies and documentaries as well as the best equipment and talent. This year, awards will be given to actors Richard Gere, Danny DeVito and Edward Norton, as well as a joint award to director Quentin Tarantino and his cinematographer Robert Richardson.

Panasonic will be showing and demonstrating a consumer camera for the first time to this influential audience at the festival. It will be alongside the professional VariCam range and EVA1 cinema cameras on a stand with partners, leading UK retailer ProAV.

Experts will be on hand to answer questions about the ground-breaking LUMIX S1H, the world’s first full-frame camera capable of video recording at 6K/24p and 10-bit 60p in 4K/C4K. With its newly-developed 24.2-megapixel full-frame image sensor, it offers more than 14 stops of dynamic range and features Panasonic’s Dual Native ISO as well as V-Log / V-Gamut that are compatible with the popular VariCam Look colorimetry, making it an ideal partner camera. And with Anamorphic 4:3 modes, it brings the popular CinemaScope look to a wider audience in a small and affordable package.

To back up its use for filmic shooting with conventional spherical lenses, the LUMIX S1H will also be demonstrated with a range of the latest German-made BLACKWING7 lenses that offer tuneable optics to give a vintage, softer feel. Blacksail11 will be representing these TRIBE7 brand lenses at the show.

The highlight of the show for Panasonic is a dedicated LUMIX Masterclass on Wednesday, November 13 at 7.15pm CET at the CKK Jordanki centre, the main venue hosting the festival.

At this event, film director Peter Hamblin and his DoP Sam Dewar will speak about their film project “In Hope of Nothing” shot solely with the Panasonic LUMIX S1H. The camera enabled Peter to fulfil his dream of shooting a narrative feature film on true anamorphic lenses and he will be talking about the experience and how Panasonic LUMIX technology made it possible.
